After two-week trips over the summers of ’03 and ’04 I moved to Breza, BiH for a year from August ‘05-’06.  I volunteered / worked with the church ‘Evandeoska Crkva’ in Breza doing youth work, humanitarian aid, maintenance and construction on the building, and a self-funded ‘learn-to-snowboard’ project.  I also helped to built a ‘maquette’ model for the fully successful Emek Beraka Campsite fundraising project for a large plot of land at Boracko Lake.

While there I also became conversationally fluent in Bosnian (Serbo-Croat) and helped to translate for foreign teams.

I spent this summer 2009 working as a member of the ‘long-term team’ at Kamp Emek Beraka.  The friends I have made there are more like family, and I fully intend to continue serving and working in Bosnia throughout my life.
